Beginning Judo for Women

While it goes without saying that women are welcome at all times in the Fundamentals and Senior Advanced class (according to rank), the instructors of the Beginning Judo for Women class recognize that some women would be more comfortable working on the basics in a low-key environment focused more on technique than on preparation for shiai.

In pursuit of this goal, this class is a fun introduction to basic Judo. Classes will cover falling, throwing and ground work techniques, as well as stretching and strengthening exercises. Students will be introduced to both Kata (form) and Shiai (competition) techniques. The class is suitable for students of all ages and athletic backgrounds.

Students that attend the Fundamentals and Senior classes are welcome to join the Women's Class at no additional charge. Also, if you are registered for any of our classes, you are welcome to join us for a strength and conditioning workout from 10:45-11:30. This is a circuit training workout designed to improve both cardio function and strength in ways that will assist with judo training.

Fees

Cost: $85 per session (10 week) plus new student enrollment fee. New student enrollment fee includes Annual Membership Fees for Tohkon ($50 single membership, $75 family membership) and membership in a National Judo Organization ($70).

New students should wear long sweat pants and a sweat shirt (no snaps or zippers or other hard objects). Some loaner gis are available.
